I don't know where I would be without music. What you hear is priceless, and music makes life that much better. Music gives you hope, it gives you faith. It has the power to make people come out of tough times and feel better. Music is full power. That's what it is. For me music is that wonder that makes the moment far more alive. You can take that one moment, remember it and forget it five years down the road. But the second that certain song starts playing in the background, or playing on the radio, you remember that moment five years ago as if it was yesterday. Cities change, people change, but there is nothing that can change the way you heard a song for the first time, or the reason you played a song over and over again because it wasn’t enough. And personally for me, it's the best way to express my emotions. Just like people cannot survive without water, just like people cannot survive without air, I cannot survive even for a second without Music. Michael Jackson has shown the world that a musician, an icon, can have a world impact and create so many memories. When you’re a girl growing up, and you have a broken heart, you play every love song you possibly can find, you fall asleep to 103.5, and you associate a song with a certain boy. Nothing really changes too much even in your late teens and going into your twenties. We listen to the words that perhaps someone else felt, or experienced, and we take that and run with it because someone else felt that very same thing. Music can create a mood in a room, one pop song can make girls go crazy and want to dance, dance party USA (oh you know we have had those still to this day!). Reggae plays, and everyone is relaxed (best pool music), and just “loves” everyone. Country music is three chords and the truth. Rap and Hip Hop has changed so much in the last 10 years, what is Rap? There are so many other genres of music that have impacted and perhaps made a difference in our lives. I went to New Orleans a couple years ago and experienced Jazz for the first time, and couldn’t have experienced it in a better place. It’s amazing. The passion and the feeling it gives you is incredible. There is so much history and comes from the soul. "Jazz came to America three hundred years ago in chains."-Paul Whiteman. When you’re younger your mom yells upstairs, “turn down that music.” When you’re in your twenties (or dirty thirties), the cops come to the door “the neighbors have complained about loud music.” But no matter how old you might be, there is always that time when you yourself, or you look to the car next to you (windows up) and the music is so loud that the neighbor cars can not only hear the blasting music, but they can hear the singing as you watch them hit their steering wheel as if they are the drummer in a band. We all come from different cultures, have different walk of life, but at the end of the day do we listen to our music so loud because it drowns out reality for that 3 minutes of a song?
